Engineering That Starts Every Project Right

Every reliable wireless site begins with sound engineering. Before a crew ever climbs a tower or splices a fiber run, the coverage, capacity, structural, and compliance questions have to be answered — correctly, and in a way that holds up to carrier and jurisdictional review. That's the work GOCC's in-house engineering team does every day.

Global One Communications (GOCC) has been designing, building, and maintaining carrier-grade wireless infrastructure since 1993, based in Fredericksburg, Texas and working across the United States. Our engineering group isn't subcontracted out — it's the same team that supports our tower crews, microwave technicians, and fiber installers, so design decisions are grounded in what's actually buildable and maintainable in the field.

What Our Cellular, LTE & RF Design Work Covers

GOCC's professional engineers provide comprehensive design and engineering services tailored to each site and carrier requirement. Our engineering expertise covers:

  • Macro-cell and small-cell design, including DAS
  • Tower analysis, mapping, and modifications
  • Remediation and foundation design
  • Electrical and grounding design
  • FAA compliance studies and R56 audits
  • Geotechnical studies and boundary surveys
  • Structural mount analysis and Class 4 engineering services

These disciplines work together. A macro-cell upgrade, for example, usually requires structural mount analysis to confirm the tower or rooftop can carry the new load, an electrical and grounding review to keep the site compliant, and often an R56 audit before equipment goes live. GOCC handles that full chain in-house rather than passing it between vendors.

Coverage and Capacity Planning

Carriers, utilities, municipalities, and enterprise operators come to us with a coverage gap, a capacity problem, or a network expansion plan. Our engineers work from that starting point to define what the site actually needs — new macro equipment, a small cell or DAS deployment, a tower modification, or a combination of all three. Because our design team works alongside the crews who install and commission the equipment, the plans we produce account for real-world site access, structural limits, and construction sequencing, not just theoretical RF models.

This matters most on sites with legacy equipment, tight urban footprints, or shared-tenant towers, where a design that looks clean on paper can run into trouble once a crew is on-site. GOCC's field-informed engineering approach is built to catch those issues at the design stage.

Structural, Foundation & Remediation Design

Adding equipment to an existing tower or rooftop almost always raises structural questions. Our engineers perform tower analysis and mapping to determine existing loading, then design remediation or foundation modifications where the structure needs reinforcement to support new antennas, RRUs, or shelters. This includes base plate and foundation remediation work that's coordinated directly with our tower modification crews, so the design translates cleanly into a scope of work the field team can execute.

Geotechnical studies and boundary surveys support new builds and larger modification projects, giving carriers and site owners the documentation needed before construction begins.

Electrical, Grounding & Compliance

Wireless sites carry strict electrical, grounding, and safety requirements. GOCC's engineering team designs electrical and grounding systems to meet those standards and performs R56 audits to confirm a site is compliant before equipment is energized. Where a site is near an airport or under certain height thresholds, we also handle FAA compliance studies as part of the design package.

This compliance work is one of the reasons carriers rely on GOCC for design services beyond a single discipline — the engineering, structural, and regulatory pieces are produced as one coordinated package rather than separate deliverables from separate vendors.

Small Cell & DAS Engineering

Seamless coverage in dense venues, commercial rooftops, and public transit systems increasingly depends on small cell and DAS solutions. GOCC delivers customized engineering and deployment services for both indoor and outdoor DAS projects, including light pole replacement analysis, rooftop and floor load structural analysis, and right-of-way and permitting coordination. Our experience includes work at major airports, entertainment venues, and municipal projects that require utility telecom attachments or public safety infrastructure.

Because GOCC also provides full design-build capabilities with in-house crews, a small cell or DAS project can move from engineering straight into construction without handing the project to a different contractor.

Class 4 Engineering Services

For structural work requiring Class 4 engineering certification, GOCC's team provides structural mount analysis and related engineering deliverables as part of our broader tower and modification services. This level of engineering review supports co-locations, carrier equipment adds, and structural changes that need certified sign-off before construction proceeds.

How Design & Engineering Fits Into a GOCC Project

Our engineering services connect directly to the rest of what GOCC does on a site:

  • Engineering and design work is followed by installation and deployment — site access coordination, tower work, equipment installation, testing, and closeout.
  • After deployment, our team provides inspections, troubleshooting, and upgrades to keep the site performing as demand changes.
  • Structural and electrical designs are handed to the same in-house crews who perform tower modifications, certified welding, parts fabrication, and power system installation.
  • Fiber and microwave backhaul design is coordinated with RF and civil schedules so connectivity is ready when the site goes live.

This end-to-end structure — engineering, construction, and maintenance under one roof — is why carriers, utilities, municipalities, and enterprise clients bring GOCC in at the design stage rather than treating engineering as a separate, disconnected step.

Who This Service Is For

GOCC's cellular, LTE, and RF design and engineering services support:

  • Carriers planning macro-cell upgrades, co-locations, or new site builds
  • Enterprises and venue owners deploying small cell or DAS coverage
  • Utilities and municipalities requiring engineering for tower attachments or public safety infrastructure
  • Site owners who need structural, foundation, or compliance documentation before construction

Whatever the trigger — a capacity shortfall, a new tenant add, a compliance requirement, or a planned network expansion — our engineering team can scope the work and hand off a design that's ready to build.

Safety and Documentation Built Into Every Design

Safety isn't an afterthought layered on after engineering is complete. GOCC's design work reflects the same safety discipline that governs our field operations, including adherence to industry protocols and regular compliance checks. You can review how we approach safety and compliance across all of our services on our safety and compliance page.
