Projects Built From Survey Through Commissioning
Every wireless infrastructure project starts the same way: a site, a scope, and a timeline that has to hold. GOCC has been designing, building, modifying, and maintaining carrier-grade sites from our Fredericksburg, Texas headquarters since 1993, and our crews and project managers carry projects from the initial survey all the way through testing and closeout. Whether the work is a single tower modification or a multi-site fiber and microwave build-out, the same discipline applies: documented scope, safety protocols followed on every visit, and a project manager who owns the schedule.
This page walks through the kinds of telecom construction projects GOCC takes on and how we manage them. If you want details on a specific project type, our solutions page breaks down each service area in depth.
The Kinds of Projects We Take On
GOCC's project work generally falls into a few categories, often combined on the same job when a site needs more than one trade.
Tower Modifications & New Builds
Tower work is where GOCC's in-house crews spend a lot of their time: structural mapping and analysis, parts fabrication and galvanization, base plate and foundation remediation, and comprehensive inspections and testing. On the new-build side, our teams handle tower installation, civil construction, and electrical system integration. Because the crews doing the fabrication and welding are in-house, a modification project doesn't stall waiting on a third-party vendor — it moves from analysis to fix on one schedule.
Microwave Path Deployment & Relocation
Microwave projects cover everything from legacy system support to new path design. GOCC's scope on these projects includes path analysis and site surveys, frequency licensing and coordination, equipment staging and bench testing, antenna and radio installation, system alignment and performance testing, and traffic migration when a path needs to move without dropping service. This is work with decades of history behind it at GOCC, including early microwave relocation projects that date back to the company's founding.
Small Cell / DAS Deployment
Small cell and DAS projects tend to come with site-specific constraints — a rooftop with a load limit, a light pole that needs a structural replacement, a right-of-way that requires permitting before anyone can touch a pole. GOCC's small cell/DAS project scope covers light pole replacement analysis, rooftop and floor load structural analysis, engineering and construction management, right-of-way and permitting coordination, and full design-build execution with our own crews. Past project experience spans airports, entertainment venues, and municipal work involving utility telecom attachments and public safety infrastructure.
Fiber for Wireless Sites & Backhaul
Towers, small cells, and microwave sites all depend on fiber getting to and from the site reliably. GOCC installs and maintains both inside- and outside-plant fiber, including single-mode and multi-mode cable installation, termination in ST, SC, LC, and MTRJ connector types, splicing and backbone installation, and underground fiber work. On projects where fiber, tower work, and RF equipment installation all need to land on the same timeline, GOCC coordinates the fiber schedule directly with the civil and RF crews rather than treating it as a separate contract.
Engineering Services Behind Every Project
Before a crew shows up on site, GOCC's in-house engineering team has usually already done the groundwork: macro-cell and small-cell design (including DAS), tower analysis and modification planning, remediation and foundation design, electrical and grounding design, FAA compliance studies and R56 audits, geotechnical studies and boundary surveys, and structural mount analysis. Having engineering in-house means the design and the build are talking to each other from day one, which matters when field conditions don't quite match the drawings.
How We Manage a Project, Start to Finish
GOCC's approach to any project — tower, fiber, microwave, or small cell — follows the same arc:
- Design and engineering to establish scope, structural requirements, and compliance needs before construction begins.
- Installation and deployment, where crews coordinate site access, equipment installation, testing, and closeout with disciplined documentation at each step.
- Maintenance and support after turn-up, including inspections, troubleshooting, and upgrades as the site's demands change.
This is also where project management earns its keep. A GOCC project manager is assigned to route the site, scope, and timeline to the right crews and keep documentation moving through kickoff, construction, and activation — so the carrier, utility, or enterprise client isn't chasing status updates.
Safety on Every Job Site
Tower and wireless infrastructure work carries real risk, and GOCC treats safety as a condition of doing the work at all, not an add-on. Every project — whether it's a tower modification, a small cell install, or a fiber splice — follows comprehensive employee training, adherence to industry-leading protocols, and regular safety audits and compliance checks. You can read more about how that plays out day-to-day on our safety and compliance page.
Who We Build For
GOCC's project work supports carriers, utilities, municipalities, and enterprises that need sites built, modified, or kept on air. That range means our crews are used to working within carrier specifications and schedules as well as municipal permitting and public-sector requirements. If your organization owns or manages towers, small cell networks, fiber routes, or microwave paths, the project types above are likely familiar territory for our teams.
Get a Project Review
If you're scoping a tower mod, a microwave move, a small cell build, or a fiber run and want to know what the project would actually involve, tell us the site, scope, and timeline. Our team will route your project to the right project manager and walk through what's needed from survey to commissioning.
